Welcome to the testing website/wiki. If you are reading this hopefully you are here because you followed the link to this website and were granted testing access to The Repopulation. If you have not, well the information here will not do you much good till you have access. The information on what to do with your key is below, but please check out the following section as there are a few things to know about the current build. Current Build: Closed Alpha 3 Hello and welcome to Alpha Testing for The Repopulation. Please take the time to read everything on this page as it lists a few issues you might run into as well as some known issues. We hope to have a few of these fixed up soon, but the build and the engine build can be in a state of flux as we head toward Beta. Planned Outages or Events You can find this on our website. Server Availability and Status Known Issues The following issues are currently in the build. Some optimization and updates are still needed in zones. Some areas run with extremely high frame rate, others will run good framerate, but a little lower than we would like. Crossing over seams into other zones in certain areas can cause a bit of a FPS drop and should improve over the coming weeks as we clean up a few problematic areas. The build is a legitimate Alpha build. There are bugs that need to be squashed, features that are not yet complete, and content that needs to be added. While many players are having fun all things considered, if you want a smoother experience you might want to wait till Beta. Blacked Out Login Screen - There is currently a draw issue here that is being debugged. If you hit enter it will force a refresh after a bad login (or if the credentials are saved it will login). Example of this issue is below for reference. Unable to authenticate: Connection Lost - This is caused 99.9% of the time by using the wrong username/password to login with. Use the email address you provided the heroenginegames.com website and the password. It is not your username/password on our website. DPI scaling - If you have UI elements where it is hard to read the text and looks like the text is flowing out of the elements it most likely is a DPI issue. You will need to reset your DPI back to 100% to resolve the issue. This is the short list, there are a variety of other bugs reported in the forums and mantis as well. Some fixes will be done live during the testing sessions, others will be done during the “push” from development to testing that happens typically every other Wednesday. Additional time/days might be provided when needed as determined by Above and Beyond Technologies. NDA Testing is done under NDA. We kindly ask you keep comments about testing to our private forums until we say otherwise. We hope to remove aspects of NDA over the process, but for now we want to keep the process in our private forums. You are in no way to release screenshots, videos, or do any kind of live streaming of your testing experience. Once we are to the point we are ready to allow such activities we will notify everyone. If you have screenshots you wish to see released there is a forum to post them and we can approve them for release to the public, but you need to seek approval first. We currently aren't doing any approval for video (captured or streaming). Minor NDA breaks we will let you know we feel you are breaking NDA, major NDA breaks (releasing unapproved media) will lead to termination of your testing privileges. Sharing of Accounts It is a fairly common place thing for an account to be shared so a buddy or loved one can check out the game. We generally turn a blind eye to the behavior as long as nothing disruptive is going on. Just be sure to let the individual know about the NDA as you will be responsible for any violation of it. Any behavior issues that might have to be dealt with (abuse, etc) in game will be your responsibility as well. If a GM or staff member asks it is best to be truthful about the activity. If at a later time the person sharing your account gets access we do not do transfers during testing. He/She will need to create a new account and start over. Server Availability We strive to keep the server up 24/7 for testers as we have testers from all over the globe, but the server could be unavailable for patching, upgrades, or server related issues. We have a thread in our private testing forum that we post updates to when this happens. https://www.therepopulation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4547&p=75984 Patching/Upgrades from development to Beta happen every other Wednesday. The server is down typically in the AM (USA Time) and can be down for a few hours to most of the day. We update the thread when things are available as well as post an update of all the changes and anything else everyone might need to know. It is a good idea to keep an eye on the forums for updates/information. Minimum Requirements for Alpha and Beta Dual Core Processor 1GB of Video Memory 3GB of System Memory 64bit Windows OS 5GB of storage (on your C: drive, cannot redirect it currently) You might be able to play with less than the minimum settings, but the 64bit OS part in particular will cause all sorts of memory issues and crashes. Due to the nature of texture caching in the engine it will commonly push past the memory limit in 32bit OS causing the game to crash. We hope to see some changes in this process, but we currently don't have a timeline for that change. Requirements are always a guideline and are subject to change (increasing or decreasing) through development and even after release. Issues We have 3 options for reporting issues Support Ticketing System - https://www.therepopulation.com/index.php/contact Forums Mantis (Bug tracker) - Please see the section below for instructions. We ask you only use the Support Ticketing System for installation or account issues that are preventing you from getting in game as they are given the highest priority. If you have questions or minor issues not preventing you from logging in please use the forums. Mantis is for reporting bugs you encounter. The forum is used quite often to discuss/point out bugs, but it helps if we have a list in mantis as well as they are easier to dig through than the forums after a day or two. If you are new to the process please follow the directions step by step as there are a few important steps to follow. Please note you will need to create a Herogames account to login, it is the 2nd step after Client Installation. Please download the installer first as listed below to make sure you get the full install. The Login will be the email account and password you created int he Account Creation Section. Client Installation Download the installer - The Repopulation Installer Accept the NDA and then hit OK/Next a bunch of time installing everything. You will want to probably install a desktop shortcut. As of now the data for the game cannot be changed and will be saved to the c: drive (in your localAppData folder in your profile). You should just leave the prompts alone When running the client it might update again if there is a new build of the client. To log into the game follow the next step to create your account. You will use the login you create below to get access, it is not your website username/password. If the screen is black (as mentioned above) simply hit enter to force it to refresh so you can see what you are doing. If there are any issues please check the Common Support Issues Section. Account Creation Visit our Game Portal on the Heroengine website. You will need to click on Login over on the right and then there is an option to create an account called “Sign Up Now”. This will create an account on their system and will be used to login to the game. When logging into the game use the email account you provided above and the password you used. If you do not you will get this message “Unable to authenticate: Connection Lost”. You will be emailed a beta key. On the same webpage there is a spot to specify a beta key. Input the key to claim it. Be sure to remove any leading/trailing spaces from the key, it will not work properly with a space before or after the key. If you do not add the key to your Hero Engine account you will get this message “Unable to authenticate: Timed Out”. If you receive a second key, make sure you are logged out from the page above, or it will not give you the option to enter the new key. Enter your new key and on the next page, instead of creating a new account, use the login at the top of the page. Do not download anything mentioned on the website, see the section above for the proper installer. Doing so will make it quicker/faster to get in game as it will download some data you will need. It can take 5-10 minutes after creating the account sometimes for it to work, if you cannot get in after creating the account try again in about 5 minutes. If after 10 minutes you are still having issues please see the next section. If you are having any issues not allowing you to play or connect please email email@example.com. If you have any questions regarding gameplay or bugs please use the Testing Forum and the Mantis Bug Tracker to report issues, please do not use the support email as it is for urgent issues only. Mantis (Bug Tracker) Setup Your Mantis account is setup automatically for you using the email address and account name you confirmed with. Go to the Mantis Website Go to “Lost your Password” and set your password. Private Testing Forum You can find the Private Testing forum here - https://www.therepopulation.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=25. If you were assigned a key you should have access. You can also find the forums once logged in as they should now be visible to you. If you still do not have access please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your forum account information so we can check into it. The Testing forum is considered under NDA so you can post secure information about testing to the forums as well as screenshots (there is a section for that as well). Please try to avoid taking information out of the Testing Forum and posting it publicly. We hope to give a lot more liberties soon with posting information, but we want to make sure testing information stays in private areas for the time being. Wiki Access This Wiki is technically NDA lifted as it isn't restricted to Private Testers only. If you have a valid website username/password you can login to the Wiki and make modifications. If you wish to make modifications or help add to the available information you a free to do so, but we please ask you to respect these following rules. New images/video from Testing have to be cleared per NDA restrictions. If you are active working on the Wiki we will wave this for active and trusted editors. Wiki should have factual information only. Opinions or rants are best for the forums. The Wiki is not to be used to recruit or push 3rd party tools or websites. If you have a tool you want listed please have it cleared first by the staff. Edits of other's content should be done with care to fix or update language or information.
