Genesis! My indecision needs your help!!

Ok guys I am up to 98 Gilda stars, so I'm still quite a bit off from actually purchasing the prints for either of these but they both cost 250Gilda and as I'm a member of Genesis i would like to see what would help the rest of Genesis out the most! I also don't know who is going for Merchant boats/Fishing boats within genesis itself as I missed the first meeting :[

Going to list as many Pro's and con's (below) as I can think of and if you can think of anymore please feel free to list them and I will update the list!

Personal Preference is the fishing boat because I love the mechanic of sport fishing, however I really love gold and gilda stars and resources, so it's like a 45/55 in favor of the fishing boat right now - Still almost a top up!

So please let me know! I doubt I will have the gilda before 7 days so the poll will close in 7 days!

IMPORTANT: I understand Personal preference rules would apply here but I am always willing to sacrifice my own needs and put the guild and Genesis above myself. I have no problem and I am a huge team player, otherwise I'd be soloin AA like a boss. Thus - don't worry about my personal preferance, I want both and will be saving for the other once I get the first, this is just to decide the first one! (and hopefully to find out who is saving for each from genesis)

Thank you for your time Genesis!!

    Fishing boat Pro's
    • Super fun fishing mechanic
    • Fish turn in for 3 gold up into the hundreds I hear
    • can store fish in the water tank
    • can find large schools of fish
    • more of a leisure/luxury time spent
    Con's!
    • Needs a guard detail
    • comparably less money than a merchant ship at lower level fishing
    • Halp I need more Pro's and cons!
And for the Merchant Ship Pro's

    • TONS of space for trade packs which leads to
    • BOOKU BUCKS
    • Much larger ship
    • Moderately paced movement
    • MY GOD THE MONEY AND TURN INS!!
    Con's!

    • Would lack the fish finder and have to manually find
    • Would need a very large guard detail due to mass trade pack trading
    • Can end much worse than a fishing boat when toppled by opposing forces
    • Whur'd our money go?!?!

I can think of a couple off the bat:

As I remember that fishing boat uses pretty expensive mats to build, so maybe another con.

The fishing boat could be a small gang activity, and used on your personal schedule. The merchant ship would most likely be used with a larger group and the schedule would depend more on others availability.

I'm wanting to get into fishing really hardcore, so I'm a bit biased.

But, I also wonder about the logistics of carrying packs on slots on a merchant ship... Just imagining how useful that would be for doing tradepacks, since you couldn't de-summon the ship when it gets attacked at the docks, and you'd have to make a trips back to the boat to get the packs while under attack by red... All that stuff.

But a fishing ship you drive into friendly waters to turn in, so it seems much more useful to have the slots in it.

That's a hard one. All valid points for the pros and cons. The merchant ship, to turn in other continent, since that's it's purpose, needs more than one person, guards, etc. And the chance it gets attacked when entering port.

Fishing boat you get to enjoy the waters. Do you have to go out into open waters for the big game fish? And risk being attacked? At which point you can't have any hope of trying to run away (super slow). But I'm also thinking of the stuff we could get from some of the fish, scales etc. I can use in alchemy, maybe some of the other crafts(?).

But I guess it all comes down to the Tenacious motto: Play how you want to play. No one will force you one way or another. If you choose to get the merchant ship for Genesis, Great! We'll take it! If you choose the fishing boat, Great! We'll have fun fishing with you.

@Temujin I voted "gotta catch em all" I assume that was for the fishing boat ?

If I were you I would get that first although, like others pointed out that is a toughie ! I do know there are a Lot of people interested in fishing and as far as I know nobody close as you to a boat.

I am leaning heavily towards fishing boat and will 90% likely go with the Fishin' - And yes, gotta catch 'em all, screw pokemon, We need Dat Marlin!

However I was talking with Karl/Carl(?) and he made a very good point, for the trade ship to pay off we would need huge groups all the time to run it around to the other continent and I am terrible at organizing such big groups so the merchant ship (which would pay out more at low levls) would take a huge crew, whereas the fishing boat could be run with a smaller 3-5 guards and the rest full of Seaman - although it doesn't pay as well at low levels the end game sport fishing pays very very well!

So heavily leaning fishing boat, like almost fallin over!

@Temujin: has there been much chat in guild about getting merchant ships? Would be pretty cool to have an armada of galleons and clippers escorting a bunch of merchant ships :) seems like we could raise a tonne of gold for the guild that way.

I've been down and out the last two days sick so I haven't seen much of guild chat. But I agree, merchants ships can bring in tons of gold/gilda/resources if protected to the end point.
